Therapy

People come to therapy for a variety of reasons. It may be a crisis that propels one to seek counseling, patterns of behavior or experiences that are not working or merely the struggles of everyday life which causes stress and one to not feel fulfilled.  Finding a place to explore alternative methods of coping, communicating, and new direction can lead to healing and growth.

I offer telehealth sessions and in person sessions in my Alameda office.

  • Short Term
  • Long Term

I am not of the belief that one size fits all and therefore my clinical approach is one where I incorporate a variety of therapeutic modalities in my work with clients to help them best achieve their goals:

Psychodynamic Approach: Emphasizes unconscious psychological processes, feelings we are not fully aware of and contends that childhood experiences are critical in the formation of adult personality.

Humanistic Approach: Emphasizes empathy and stresses the good in human behavior.

Self Psychology: Use of empathy as an essential aspect of the therapeutic process of addressing human development and growth.

Solution Focused: Focuses on holding a person accountable for solutions rather than responsible for problems.

Family Systems: Understanding how family dynamics impact our ways of relating to others.

Cognitive: Change self-defeating thought patterns and cognitive distortions.

Behavior Modification: Change habitual behavior patterns to more effective mode.

Psychoeducation: Providing education and information to better help clients understand their intrapersonal and interpersonal experiences.
